Punjab cabinet approves PMJAY health insurance scheme, to cover 42 lakh families

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab cabinet on Wednesday approved implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) health insurance scheme by extending the central scheme to cover over 42 lakh families. Earlier, it proposed to cover 14.96 lakh SECC families. This would put a burden of Rs 300 crore on the state exchequer.

The Punjab cabinet on Wednesday approved implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) health insurance scheme by extending the central scheme to cover over 42 lakh families.

Earlier, it proposed to cover 14.96 lakh SECC families. This would put a burden of Rs 300 crore on the state exchequer.

The cabinet also approved Sports Policy-2018 to promote sports and strengthen infrastructure. It enhanced awards for sportspersons in recognition of excellence in national and international performances.

Policy for regularisation of illegal colonies was approved with March 19, 2018 as the cut-off date.
