Mohali, April 20

A local court on Friday denied extension of police custody of Harvinder Singh alias Happy, who was arrested from Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) on April 15 in connection with the attack on Punjabi singer Parmish Verma and his friend, Kulwant Singh.

The cops had sought two days’ police remand to probe Happy’s alleged role in harbouring other suspects and links to gangster Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, who had purportedly claimed responsibility for the attack and issued threats to Verma on Facebook.

The court remanded the accused in judicial custody. Happy’s kin alleged that his leg got fractured during custodial interrogation.

His father, Gurmail Singh, said, “There was no such injury on his leg when he was picked up by the police on Sunday.”
