Woman, daughter killed in road mishap

A man was injured while his wife and daughter were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a truck near Bhawanigarh today.

According to information, Habans Singh (52) from Bagriyan village, his wife Gurmale Kaur (50) and daughter Gagandeep Kaur (23) were going to Majhi village to pay obeisance at a gurdwara.

“When they reached near Bhawanigarh, a truck hit them. Gagandeep died on spot while her mother, Gurmale Kaur, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Nabha. Harbans is under treatment at a Patiala hospital,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Avtar Singh.

The truck driver fled from the spot. The police have identified him as Mohd Salim Khan. “We are conducting raids to arrest him,” the Assistant Sub-Inspector said.

Woman dies in accident

Muktsar: A woman was killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a car at Bhalaiana village on the Muktsar-Bathinda highway on Sunday.

Two persons, who sustained injuries in the accident, were first admitted at Doda village and later referred to Faridkot. The deceased woman has been identified as Sarabjeet Kaur (42).

The police have started an investigation after registering a case in this regard.
