The Committee of Administrators (CoA) administrating the Indian cricket board (BCCI) has said that the much-awaited BCCI elections will be held on October 22.

CoA, which was appointed by the Supreme Court in January 2017 to oversee the reforms recommended by the Lodha Committee, announced the election date after consultations with PS Narsimha, the Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae.

In March this year, the Supreme Court had assigned Narsimha to mediate with various state associations, which had filed 80 interim appeals. In the meeting attended by all three CoA members — chief Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and Ravi Thodge — the deadline to hold state elections was set at September 14. Rai said 30 state associations have been rendered compliant with the Lodha reforms, and the rest are in the process of amending their constitutions.

Terms of reference for CAC

The Committee of Administrators is finally ready with the terms of reference for the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). The terms of references will be provided to CAC members Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly after BCCI’s Ethics Officer DK Jain announces his verdict in the conflict of interest cases against the three.

However, with the BCCI elections set to be held on October 22, the terms of reference will only be valid till that time. Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman are awaiting Jain’s verdict in conflict of interest cases, in which all three have refuted the allegations. In case the three continue as CAC members, they would have one more big assignment — selecting the national coach after the World Cup.  — PTI
