Hyderabad or Rajkot may host India’s first Day-Night Test

NEW DELHI:Either Hyderabad or Rajkot may host India’s maiden Day-Night Test match when West Indies will arrive for a tour later this year.

New Delhi, March 17

Either Hyderabad or Rajkot may host India’s maiden Day-Night Test match when West Indies will arrive for a tour later this year. BCCI today finalised Indian team’s home series itinerary and picked the two centres for hosting Tests during the West Indies tour.

The CoA was unhappy that acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary had explored and discussed the possibility of playing a Day-Night Test with Ravi Shastri even as the head coach was not averse to the idea.

The Indian team will play only three Test matches at home — the historic first against Afghanistan in June along with two more against West Indies in October after Diwali.

Apart from that, India will also host West Indies for five ODIs in Mumbai, Guwahati, Korchi, Indore and Pune in early November.

The series will end with three T20Is at Kolkata, Chennai and Kanpur. The Kolkata T20I will be held on November 4 but the dates for the other matches are yet to be known.

India will leave for Australia after the T20I series for a two-month long tour. They will then host Australia for five ODIs and two T20Is in February-March 2019. The five ODIs will be held in Mohali (February 24), Hyderabad (February 27), Nagpur (March 2), Delhi (March 5) and Ranchi (March 8).

The two T20Is will be held in Bengaluru (March 10) and Visakhapatnam (March 13). —  PTI
