Educational Barrier in India.

REFFERING to the recent troubles that have arisen in connection with University education in India, Dr. T.M. Nair in his speech at Coimbatore, remarked that he was strongly of opinion that qualifications for Government service and University degrees being mixed up in India, have created all the trouble. The one should, he said, have nothing whatever to do with the other and he pointed out that "in England for entry into any of the services one had to pass competitive examinations and there was no condition laid down that preliminary examinations should have been passed. It was open to anybody to sit for the competitive examinations and if he gets a pass he gets a job. The system works satisfactorily and there is no barrier of any kind as it exists in this country at every stage of one's educational career." He urged a similar arrangement in India which would end the troubles.
