Restoration of Ireland.

“The stamping out of Sinn Fein and the enforcement of a modified form of conscription,”writes an Anglo-Indian contemporary, “are as necessary as the Home Rule Bill to the restoration of Ireland to a place of content and honour in the Empire.” It is wonderful how nearly identical with this is the view of the saner section of Irishmen. They only transpose the terms of this proposition and say that the Bill is as necessary as the stamping out of Sinn Fein and the enforcement of a modified form of conscription. What is more, they claim the Bill, if properly conceived, will make the first unnecessary and the second easy. Sinn Fein will either die a natural death when Home Rule is established or will cease to have the least influence, while self-respecting Ireland, when her grievance is removed, will think it a point of honour to compete with England and Scotland in the supply of troops.
