The authorities of Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Rewari, and Government Girls College at Sector 18 here are at loggerheads over mistakes in the date of birth (DoB) and parents’ name in the result card of several girl students of the undergraduate course.

The university claims the result card has been prepared as per information provided by the college about students at the time of registration. The college says the fault is at the end of the university and the record should be rectified by the university immediately.

The affected girls have been making rounds of the university and college for the past several days, but the issue is yet to be resolved.

“Initially, I could not check my result of the first semester of BA (first year) due to mismatch of my DoB. I found that my DoB was wrong on approaching the university. Around 80 other students faced a similar situation. I prepared a list of such students and submitted it to our college principal,” said Neha Dhankar, a student, adding that the result was declared in the first week of July.

She maintained the parents’ name of several students had also been mentioned wrong in the result card. Now, the university authorities are demanding a fee of Rs 300 for the rectification when the situation was not the students’ fault. Either the college or the university made the mistake, she added.

Hari Singh Yadav, the college principal, said they had submitted the correct record of the students to the university at the beginning of academic session. Hence, the college should not be blamed. “A list of 70 students has been sent to the university for rectifying the record,” he said.

Suresh Dhanerwal, Deputy Controller of Examination, IGU, claimed they had verified the record of several students and it matched the information provided by the college. Hence, no question of fault on the part of the university arose.

Vikas Batra, OSD to the VC, said the university was in the process of resolving the issue. So the students need not worry. The Vice-Chancellor had also directed the officer concerned to find out the cause of the fault.
