Washington, March 5

US President Barack Obama has re-nominated Sunil Sabharwal, an independent Indian-American investor in the payments sector, as US Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for two years.

First nominated in April 2014 to the position of Alternate Executive Director of the IMF, Sabharwal has been an independent investor in the payments sector since 2006.

The White House sent Sabharwal’s nomination to the Senate on Wednesday. At over two dozen, the Obama administration boasts of having the highest number of Indian Americans in key jobs than any previous administration in the US. — Agencies
