In the case of murder of a 25-year-old youth, the Kotkapura police on Wednesday arrested category-A gangster Deepak Kumar alias Tinu. Belonging to Bhiwani in Haryana, Tinu has as many as 34 criminal cases pending against him in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi.

Tinu was one of the five persons, nominated as accused in the murder of Lavi Deora, who was killed in Kotkapura on July 15, 2017.

While three of the accused have already been arrested, Deepak Tinu and Sampant Nehra were absconding.

Earlier arrested by the Ambala police, Deepak Kumar was escaped with the help of Sampat Nehra and his aides from the Civil Hospital in Panchkula on June, 2017, after throwing pepper spray in the eyes of a police official on duty, said KC Prashar, SHO Kotkapura.

Tinu had suffered a bullet injury in his leg during the bid to escape from police custody. For his treatment, he had escaped to Bengaluru in Karnataka. However, on December 27, 2017, a joint operation of Karnataka and Haryana police was successful in nabbing him from the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station.

A notorious gangster, Tinu is facing 10 murder, 14 attempt to murder and 10 other criminal cases in different states.

Known for mocking police by making short films of his criminal acts and uploading these on social media, Tinu and four other youths had killed Lavi Deora in an inter-gang rivalry, said sources in the police.

The Kotkapura police have brought Tinu on production. After Tinu, the police will also bring Sampant Nehra, who was arrested in Jodhpur some time back, on production warrant, the SHO said.

Earlier, the Kotkapura police had procured the custody of two gangsters — Bharat Bhushan alias Bhola Shooter (23) and Inderpreet Singh (27) — both members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang from the Chandigarh police for killing of Lavi Deora.

In this murder case, the police had first of booked Bhola Shooter for the crime.

All these accused are members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Faridkot police had also procured the custody of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, another ganger of Batala region, from Amritsar Central Jail for him being a part of the conspiracy to eliminate Lavi Deora.

The police have also got the custody of Inderpreet Singh from the Chandigarh Police. Accused in many criminal cases in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, it is alleged that Inderpreet provided shelter to the gangsters involved in the killing of Lavi Deora. The shelter was provided at a farm house of Inderpreet Singh at Ambala.

Killing of Lavi Deora was fallout of two friends-turned-foe gangsters. Both belonging to Kotkapura town, Lavi Deora and Bhola Shooter were earlier nominated as co-accused in many criminal cases in the area.

But, now for some time, there was a fight for supremacy in the region among them they parted ways.

While Deora’s brother is already in jail for his involvement in criminal activities, Lavi Deora was also released from the jail on bail about two weeks before his murder.
