Drive launched to inspect hospitals

BATHINDA: The Health Department has initiated measures under the Kayakalp project aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices at public healthcare centres.

Bathinda, October 22

The Health Department has initiated measures under the Kayakalp project aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices at public healthcare centres.

A team will inspect district hospitals, sub-division hospitals, PHCs and CHCs in the state till November 22 and submit its report to the head office. One team will inspect civil hospitals in three districts.

For the first time in this survey, a team will check the boundary wall system of the hospitals. Apart from this, the team would check details of efforts that have been made to provide better facilities to the patients by the hospital.

It will also check how much help has been taken from NGOs in the district.

The team will also inspect the services (including treatment, medicines and nursing) given to the patients coming to the Civil Hospital.

Other parameters on which the performance of the hospitals would be judged are hospital/facility upkeep, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, infection control, support services and hygiene promotion.

The hospital which will bag first position in this survey would be given Rs 50 lakh cash prize, second prize winner would get Rs 25 lakh and third rank winner will get Rs 10 lakh.

Dr Parvinderpal Kaur, state nodal officer, Kayakalp Project, Punjab, said “The Kayakalap project has been started in the state and it will go on till November 22. Under this, teams would visit civil hospitals and inspect them on various parameters. The hospitals which would get first three ranks would be given cash prize by the department.” — TNS
