LED lights on cars go unchecked

Tribune News Service

Muktsar, November 19

The foggy season has started and a large number of people are using additional LED lights on their cars, making commuting on roads risky.

While travelling on a foggy morning, this correspondent saw that a large number of people had fitted white-colored LED lights on their cars, making the visibility poor for those coming from the opposite direction.

Gurjeeet Singh, a bus driver, said, “The LED lights are one of the major causes of road mishaps. It becomes tough to see after coming in contact of the light. Traffic policemen and officials of the Transport Department must act against those who have fitted these extra lights.”

Similarly, a local resident said, “Traffic policemen are busy issuing challans to only two-wheelers and completing their monthly target, but they are least bothered about other violations, especially being made by car owners. A traffic drive should be initiated to keep a check on the violations by four-wheeler owners.”

A senior police officer said, “We will definitely conduct a special drive to check if someone is using extra lights. It is against the motor vehicle rules to fit additional lights.”
