Pushkar Bansal, a second year B.Tech student of computer science and engineering at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), has made the university proud by winning third prize in photography at the Dera Baba Nanak Youth Festival.

The festival was organised by the state government to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The winning photograph by Pushkar Bansal was titled ‘Balihari kudrat vaseya tera ant na jaye lakhiya’ (We have to follow God’s divine will and respect the nature as it has given birth to entire universe) received huge response.

Pushkar received a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and a certificate at a state-level felicitation ceremony held at Dera Baba Nanak. As many as 458 students from different universities participated in the contest.

The competition was held in 13 categories comprising of group and individual events including shabad, dhadhi art, poem recitation, speech, essay, digital poster, photography, calligraphy, painting and sketching.

The event was coordinated by faculty members Jatinder Kaur, professor and head, architecture, and Amitoj Singh, cultural coordinator under the guidance of Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, director, sports and youth welfare, MRSPTU, Bathinda.

Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, MRSPTU, and Ashish Baldi, registrar professor, congratulated Pushkar for winning the prize.
