Faridkot, November 18
To pay homage to Maharani Deepinder Kaur, the 82-year-old daughter of Maharaja Harinder Singh, the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Faridkot, who died here on November 11, the Former Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and wife of Punjab Chief Minister, Preneet Kaur, on Sunday reached here. She was accompanied by Bharat Bhushan Ashu, State Cabinet Minister.
At the bhog ceremony in the memory of the deceased Maharani, held at Faridkot on Sunday, besides many political leaders, the family members of the deceased came from West Bengal.
She was married to Maharaja Veer Jai Bardhan of former princely state of Bardhaman (West Bengal) in 1959. She was staying at Faridkot for some time before her death. She had come here to attend the anniversary of her father, Maharaja Harinder Singh.
Deepinder Kaur was the chairperson of Maharawal Khewaji Trust, which is looking after Maharaja Harinder Singh’s properties worth more than Rs 25,000 crore.
