Bathinda, July 18
A youth ended his life by hanging himself from a fan in his house. After getting information, the Nathana police reached the spot and took the body into custody.
After doing the legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family members.
ASI Chaman Lal said the deceased had been identified as Rajinder Singh alias Raju (19), a resident of Nathana.
The police have registered a case against four persons on the charge of abetment of suicide on the statement of the deceased’s sister Karamjit Kaur, a resident of Mansa.
The police have started searching for the accused who are absconding.
The accused have been identified as deceased’s paternal uncle Harjinder Singh, his aunt Jasvir Kaur, his cousin Ravinder Singh and his wife Kamaljit Kaur.
In a statement given to the police, deceased’s sister Karamjit Kaur has stated that his father had two marriages.
She and her sister Paramjit Kaur are from the first marriage and her brother Rajinder was from the second marriage.
After the death of his father and mother, his paternal uncle and aunt looked after Rajinder.
She has alleged that her paternal uncle’s family was not giving Rajinder his share of money in a plot and in gold. When he would ask for money, he would be badly beaten up, she said.
Later, Rajinder got married to Kamaljit Kaur, a resident of Poohla village. Four days ago, Kamaljit went to her parents’ house after fighting with Rajinder on some issue.
Rajinder was alone at home on Monday when he committed suicide. His body was seen on Tuesday when some persons of the village reached his house to meet him.
Police officials said a team was conducting raids for the arrest of the accused.
