A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Zirakpur on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Ashmeet Kaur, a resident of Dhakoli.
As per the information, the incident came to light on Monday morning when one of the family members found her hanging in a room and raised an alarm. They immediately informed the police.
No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
The police said as per preliminary probe it had come to fore that the victim was upset regarding her studies. However, the police have started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause behind the extreme step and launched an inquest proceeding.
