CHANDIGARH: A 26-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his house on the PGI campus here today.



Chandigarh, November 12

A 26-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his house on the PGI campus here today.

The victim, identified as Kuldeep, left an alleged suicide note stating that he was responsible for the extreme step. The victim was taking treatment from the psychiatry ward of the PGI.

The police said they received information about the suicide around 12.30 pm, following which a team reached the spot. The police said the victim’s brother saw him hanging from a ceiling fan and brought him down. The youth was then taken to the GMSH-16 where he was declared brought dead.

The police have ruled out any foul play in the incident. However, inquest proceedings have been started at the Sector 11 police station. —TNS
