A 52-year-old woman died after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road at Mirpur village here on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Inder Kaur, a housewife. The unknown car driver fled the spot.
The police said the impact of the bang was so strong that the victim was thrown some distance away. She was rushed to the PGI where she succumbed to her injuries.
On a statement of her son Nanak Singh, a case has been registered against the unidentified driver under Sections 304-A and 279 of the Indian Penal Code at the Mubarikpur police post. — TNS
