Accused denied bail

CHANDIGARH: A local court today denied bail to an accused in a firing incident that took place on February 10.

Chandigarh, March 14

A local court today denied bail to an accused in a firing incident that took place on February 10.

Amandeep, 27, a resident of Ludhiana, was one of the accused who had fired gunshots at a bouncer in Sector 7 here, Gurdeep  Singh, here. Dismissing his bail plea, the court stated that the investigation in the case was under way and the co-accused were yet to be arrested. Releasing the accused on bail was likely to hamper the probe, the court stated.

On February 11, a case was registered against Amandeep and other persons on the complaint of Gurdeep Singh, who was working as a bouncer in Sector 7, Chandigarh.

The defence counsel stated that a co-accused, Baldev, was shown to have fired the shots, had been arrested and the petitioner had not used any firearm in the incident.

The public prosecutor argued that the remaining accused in the case were yet to be arrested. — TNS
