Chandigarh, February 5

UT Adviser Manoj Parida today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 2 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) using MBR technology.

In order to treat the sewage generated by residents of Kishangarh village and to use the treated water for the irrigation purpose of the lake area, Golf Course, nearby IT Park area and to meet the water required for topping up the lake in future, the project was undertaken at a cost of Rs19.9 crore.

The installation of the STP will also comply with the directions of the National Green Tribunal. The parameters for the sewage treatment plant were fixed keeping in view the requirement for topping up the lake, if required, duly vetted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC).
