Chandigarh, June 3

The MC’s plan of opening an animal carcass incineration plant in Sector 25 has again run into rough weather as local Congress leaders continued chain hunger strike against the move.

The Congress has decided that every day, four Congress leaders would sit on hunger strike while following the social distancing norms and other rules of the UT Administration.

Yadwinder Mehta of the party said it was a peaceful protest as people of Dadu Majra, Sector 25, Dhanas, Sectors 37, 38 were suffering due to the foul smell emanating from the dumping ground. On the other hand, some of the BJP leaders also protested against the move of opening it in Sector 25. — TNS
