To prevent further spread of coronavirus, the UT Administration today declared 33 more micro-containment zones in the city.

District Magistrate Mandip Singh Brar said regular screening and monitoring of the areas would continue. Residents were advised to strictly maintain social distancing norms, wear a mask and follow hand hygiene.

As many as 54 micro-containment zones were declared on May 4.

The affected areas declared as micro-containment zones are parts of Sector 18, 20, 21, 29, 30, 32, 35, 37, 38, 38 (West), 39, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 50 (Bankers’ Enclave), 63 (Block No 6), Dadu Majra Colony, New Indira Colony, Mauli Jagran village, Vikas Nagar and Mauli Jagran

Chandigarh sees 9 deaths, 870 fresh cases

Chandigarh: The city recorded 870 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the number of active cases to 8,505. With nine more deaths, the toll has reached 558. The UT tally stands at 49,312. A total of 861 patients were cured of the disease in the past 24 hours. TNS

Nine succumb in Mohali, 983 +ve

Mohali: Nine deaths were reported from the district during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities due to Covid to 675. Meanwhile, 983 more persons were diagnosed with Covid till Saturday evening and 230 patients were got better of the disease. Among the new cases, 362 came from Mohali (urban), 17 from Banur, 21 from Lalru, 25 from Kurali, 35 from Boothgarh, 88 from Dera Bassi, 103 from Gharuan, 150 from Dhakoli and 182 from the Kharar subdivision. 6 more lives lost, 361 cases in P’kula

Panchkula: Six more persons succumbed to Covid during the past 24 hours, taking the district toll to 246. A 55-year-old man from Ramgarh, a 64-year-old man from Sector 12-A, a woman each from Surajpur (aged 53), Kalka (42), Moginand (65) and Sector 7 (65). Meanwhile, 361 persons, including 194 males and 167 females, tested positive for the virus, taking the tally to 24,453. So far, 21,468 patients have been cured of the disease in the district while there are 2,739 active cases. TNS
