Chandigarh, January 25

In response to the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the UT Administration on Thursday issued a notification for election to the posts of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor.

Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, has directed that the election meeting would be held on January 30 at 10 am at the Assembly Hall of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation office in the presence of the presiding authority, Anil Masih.

Earlier on Wednesday, the court ruled that the deferment of the poll for 18 days was “unreasonable, unjustified and arbitrary” and told the UT to hold the same on January 30. The elections were to be held initially on January 18, but were postponed to February 6.
