Flyover in city need of the hour

SUKHWANT BHULLAR:I feel the discussion over the flyover project is useless.

I feel the discussion over the flyover project is useless. Time demands many changes in the city. Its population is increasing and rush of vehicles has become a headache for the people and the Administration. Change is the rule of life. If trees are the problem, we can always plant saplings elsewhere to compensate the loss. The main problem is our ‘Babu Raj’. They have a habit of putting an objection on every file.

Law & order situation worsening in country

With reference to the story titled “Teacher shot dead outside school in Sunny Enclave” published in Chandigarh Tribune on December 6, I feel that the incident has exposed the deteriorating law and order conditions not only in the Tricity, but all across the country. In November, a youth was shot dead in Kharar by group of miscreants and a retired IAF officer was attacked in Kharar. In March, an FDA licensing officer was shot dead in her office. All such cases show that mischievous elements are having a field day and are openly taking law in their hands. There is a rise in mob lynching cases too. Police and administration are in deep slumber. The government must ensure the safety and security of its citizens at any cost.

Focus on main issues

The proposal of the UT Administration to rename Mani Majra as Sector 13 along with various other places will lead to confusion and chaos as we have seen from the example of Mohali. Till date one finds difficult it to understand the nomenclature in Mohali, which oscillates between phases and sectors. Moreover, there are a lot of other issues which need urgent attention such as parking problem, condition of roads and traffic related issues. In my opinion, the Administration should not waste its energy and public resources on such futile exercises.
