‘Going home means extra fiscal burden’

Panchkula, May 8

The migrant labour in Panchkula city are preferring to stay back and wait for the situation to turn normal.

Labourers said even though there was no work, they would not return to their homes as it put extra financial burden on them.

Shankar Trivedi, a native of Muradabad in UP and presently living in Haripur village, said he was working as a painter at a house in Sector 21. He said last year, he had faced a lot of problems while returning to his native place as no transport was available. He said after he returned to the city, he remained out of work for one month as his contractor had employed another worker.

Ram Avtar, a native of Bihar, said they had decided not to move out of Panchkula as it would put extra financial burden on them. — TNS
