Chandigarh, December 5

In a major relief to thousands of residents of the cooperative housing societies, VP Singh Badnore Governor of Punjab and the UT Administrator, has given his nod for the extension of the policy for the execution of the conveyance deed of societies on old rates for one more month.

Sources said decision for the extension was taken after a delegation of societies led by MN Shukla, convener, housing societies, met Adviser to the UT Administrator Manoj Kumar Parida today. Delegation raised many issues related with the transfer policy of flats in societies. The Adviser also assured the delegation to review certain points in the policy.

This is the second time that the date for the policy has been extended by the UT Administration. It was in June 2019 last time when the date was extended for six months upto December 31, 2019, for one time relief given for execution of the conveyance deed. Now, housing societies will be able to execute conveyance deed till January 31, 2020.

Housing societies were allowed to get the execution of conveyance deed at the actual amount paid by cooperative societies last year for six months.

As per the scheme, group housing societies are allowed to register the conveyance deed at the rate of allotment, which is Rs 750 per sqyd for 1993 allotments and Rs 2,850 per sqyd for the land allotted in 2001.

Shukla said other issues were also raised before the Adviser, who assured to review them. “At the time of registration of the sub-conveyance deed or sub-deed in the name of the original allotees stamp duty is charged at the present value of the flats based on the current collector rates, which is wrong,” Shukla added.

He also opposed the unearned increase and the composition fee for the GPA owners, who got flats transferred upto 2014.
