It is a group of energetic youths, including an IT professional, a homoeopathic doctor, graduates among others, who have been running an online campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from a war room equipped with computers set up at the rear of Harmohan Dhawan’s house in Sector 9 here.

Besides promoting Dhawan on the social media, the team also reaches out to voters through phone to garner support.

Naveen Sharma, IT professional, is one of the key strategists for Dhawan when it comes to creating innovative campaigns for the social media. “I, along with other team members, create the content, which is further promoted by another team,” he adds.

Naveen, who works with an IT company during night, voluntarily spends his day at the war room to plan campaigns.

“Videos we have created are not only used to reach out to the voters, but also to strike a chord with them by highlighting various promises that were never kept by other political parties,” he said.

Arvind, another AAP volunteer, who has been associated with the party for the past several years and has campaigned for the party in Delhi, is another core member of the war room from where the AAP’s digital campaign is run. “I left my job three months ago to work for the party,” he adds.

The team further has Kamaljeet, a Bachelor in Computer Application, and a graphic designer, and Tarun, an undergraduate at the PU, who ensures the posts are widely shared so that these reach out to the voters.

The IT team also shares Dhawan’s campaign and meetings live on the Facebook page, “Fans of Harmohan Dhawan”.

Two young girls in the war room are assigned the task of calling the voters of the area where Dhawan or AAP volunteers are scheduled to visit for campaigning.

Among the team that is tirelessly working for Dhawan to ensure his victory in the Lok Sabha elections is a couple - Sushil Aggarwal and Dr Sheenu Aggarwal. Dr Sheenu is a homeopathic doctor who coordinates with the media for Dhawan.

The war room is also the venue to hold brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings.

In addition to the war room, a hut on the corner of the lawn at Dhawan’s house is another meeting point for AAP workers where group meetings and deliberations are done to work out winning strategies.
