JE challaned, PSPCL retorts by snapping power to traffic lights

High drama was witnessed here today when the traffic wing of Zirakpur issued a challan to a JE working with the PSPCL for not wearing a helmet and also impounded his two-wheeler.

A few hours later, to avenge the challaning of its vehicle, the PSPCL in return snapped the connection of the traffic lights in Zirakpur. As a result, traffic jams were witnessed at several junctions in the town due to the non-functional traffic lights. The incident occurred when the JE was stopped by traffic cops and asked to show his papers. The JE argued with the cops, but he was challaned and his vehicle impounded. Sources said the matter was reported to the SSP, Mohali, who later got the matter resolved.

Interestingly, on July 3, PSPCL officials had conducted a raid on a traffic police beat box in Zirakpur and found that it was allegedly being run with a kundi connection. The PSPCL officials had snapped the power supply.
