Chandigarh: A maid has been booked on the charge of stealing jewellery from a house in Sector 40. The complainant, Davinder Kumar Saini, said he, along with his family, had gone out of the city to attend a ‘satsang’ from May 24 to 26. His maid, who is a resident of Palsora, stole the gold jewellery from the house as she had the keys of the house. A case under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the IPC has been registered. TNS
Rape case accused held
Mohali: The police have arrested a 27-year-old man on the charge of raping a 26-year-old woman in March last year. The man has been identified as Rajat, who was held from Nabha. He was produced before the court on Saturday and was remanded in 14-day judicial custody. The incident took place on March 30 last year within the Mataur police station limits. A case was registered under Section 376 of the IPC.
Dhanas resident held with heroin
Chandigarh: The Crime Branch of the UT police has arrested a resident of Dhanas with 15-gram heroin. The suspect, identified as Anuj Sharma, a resident of Milk Colony, Dhanas, was arrested near Botanical Garden, Sarangpur, with the drug. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the Sarangpur police station. TNS
Unidentified body found
Ambala: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from Dadiyana village of Ambala City on Sunday. The body was lying in an area covered with trees. After getting information, officials from the Ambala Sadar police station and forensic expert Dr GR Jain reached the spot. Dr Jain said the exact cause of death would be clear in the autopsy report. The deceased appeared to be in early 30s. Investigating officer ASI Pawan Kumar said the body had been kept in the mortuary for identification. TNS
Laptop stolen from car
Panchkula: The police have registered a case against unidentified persons for stealing a laptop worth Rs 59,000 from a car parked outside the house of a resident in Sector 11 here. Uday Batta, regional sales manager with Villeroy Boch company, in his complaint to the police, stated that he had parked his car outside his house around 8 pm. The laptop of his company was kept on the rear seat of his car. In the morning, he found the door of the car open and the laptop missing. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC. TNS
