MC to buy 45 e-bikes for supervisory staff

For efficient monitoring of the cleanliness drive under the Swachhta Abhiyan-2019, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) will purchase 45 e-bikes for the supervisory staff.

Each vehicle will cost from Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000. The supervisory staff working at the sanitation and horticulture wing will be working from 7 am to 12 noon and 3 am to 5 pm, making rounds of residential as well as commercial areas of the city to monitor the working of sanitation workers.

Giving details, Executive Officer (EO) Jarnail Singh said e-bikes would be purchased by December 25. He said the MC had also decided to distribute more than 1,200 kits, including masks, gloves, goggles and gumboots, among sanitation workers.He added that a changing room would be provided to the workers in each ward.

Jarnail Singh said that MC has also decided to purchase 200 dustbins and the MC would hold regular health check-up camps for sanitation workers regularly.

Singh said that MC was also planning to purchase two tree-pruning machines. “A grass cutter will also be purchased.Tablets will be given to the supervisory staff for the monitoring of the cleanliness drive.” he added.
