A Patiala-based family had a narrow escape after a rashly driven Honda City vehicle rammed into their stationed car on the Zirakpur-Patiala stretch here on Sunday night.

According to sources, the incident happened around 9.30 pm on Sunday, when a family from Patiala in their Maruti Breeza was heading towards home but stopped midway to have ice cream from a roadside vendor on the Zirakpur-Patiala stretch.

While the three members of the family were having an ice-cream standing close to their car, a youth driving a Honda car reportedly lost control over the wheels and rammed into their car.

According to an eyewitness, the four youths who had come to attend a fair near Chandigarh were going towards Patiala. They were believed to be under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident. The crash was described by an eyewitness as frightening.
