Chandigarh: Three motorcycle-borne persons have snatched a mobile phone at Sector 37. Dr Krishan Kumar reported that three persons snatched his phone and sped away on their motorcycle bearing a Punjab number. The police have registered a case at the Sector 39 police station. TNS

Resident stabbed, admitted to GMCH

Chandigarh: Unidentified persons attacked a man and stabbed him at Sector 32. Ramneek, a resident of Sector 49, reported that around six persons beat him up and also stabbed him near the market. He was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station and started investigation. TNS

Saupin's cricket c'ship from today

Chandigarh: A total of 10 teams will participate in the Saupin's-32 (U-14) Cricket Championship, starting from January 16. Satguru Cricket Academy (Mohali), Cricket with Nagesh Academy (Panchkula), Mahajan Cricket Academy, Saupin's School, Launching Pad Academy (Mohali), Straight Drive Cricket Academy (Ludhiana), Amanjit Turf Sports (Mohali), Guru Nanak School Cricket Academy (Chandigarh), Sunrise Cricket Academy (Mohali) and Lakshay School of Cricket (Kalka) will participate. The teams have been divided into two pools. Top teams of each pool will qualify for the semifinals. The opening match will be played between Nagesh Academy and Satguru Academy. TNS

Anubhav shines in Sunrise win

Mohali: Anubhav Kaushik scored a ton as Sunrise Cricket Academy defeated Tinku Cricket Academy (Mohali) by four wickets in the 2nd RP Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament. Kaushik (149 off 76 balls, studded with seven sixes and 15 boundaries) remained the star of the team. Batting first, the Mohali team scored 291/2 in 40 overs with the help of Jaiveer Bhinder (124), Abhyudaya Tripathi (84) and Harman AB (58). Anubhav Kaushik and Kshitij Thakur claimed one wicket each. In reply, the Zirakpur team scored 292/6 with the help of Kaushik (149), Abhinav Kapil (76) and Mridul Chawla (28). Mihier Yadav and Armaan Wadhwa claimed two wickets each, while Tejasav and Krishna Sharma took one each. TNS

Swimming camp held in Mohali

Mohali: Association of veteran swimming coaches Wavegaurd, organised a one-month free swimming camp at Sector 78 complex. Swimmers aged between 10 and 18 years from various cities of Punjab participated. This camp was led by European coach Eric Landa, who is renowned for training 21 Olympians. The programme will continue in coming months with the collaboration of local coaches appointed by the Punjab Sports Department to nurture the swimmers of the state.
