Mohali sees 4 more fatalities, toll rises to 171


Mohali, September 23

The district witnessed four Covid fatalities during the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 171. It also witnessed 238 fresh cases, taking the tally to 8,939, while 156 patients were cured or discharged today.

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, said two men and two women died of the virus during the past 24 hours. A 50-year-old man from Manauli died at a hospital in Sohana. He was suffering from liver disease. A 66-year-old woman from Mohali died at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. She was a diabetic. Another 66-year-old woman from Phase 9 also died at Rajindra Hospital. She was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. A 70-year-old man from Chaumajra died at Ivy Hospital. He was a patient of hypertension and liver disease.

Of the 238 fresh cases, 78 were from Mohali (urban), 40 from Kharar, 25 from Gharuan, 54 from Dhakoli, 11 from Dera Bassi, five from Banur, seven from Boothgarh, six from Kurali and 12 from Lalru. — TNS
