Patiala, August 6
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has set a new record of supplying highest-ever energy in a day on August 4.
It supplied 2,749 lakh units (LUs) of energy on Saturday.
Hot and relatively dry weather conditions have increased energy requirements so much that even on Saturday, which was an off day for many government offices, public institutions, colleges and schools, a new record of highest-ever energy supplied in a day was set.
In a release issued here, CMD, PSPCL, Baldev Singh Sran said the PSPCL had beaten its own record of highest-ever energy supplied during a day with the supply of as high as 2,749 LUs of energy within the state. He in addition, the PSPCL sold six LUs in power exchange at Rs 6.78 per unit.
Sran said despite huge energy demand and shortfall in availability of hydro power, the PSPCL was supplying uninterrupted eight-hour supply to agriculture consumers and no power cut on general and industrial consumers was imposed.
