Mohali, June 10

To improve the standard of education, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today gave away Rs1.28 crore to improve the infrastructure of four schools in the Mohali assembly segment.

Out of the total amount, Rs50 lakh and Rs28 lakh have been given to Government Senior Secondary Schools in Gobindgarh village and Gigomajra, respectively. Government primary schools at Giddarpur and Bariali have been given Rs25 lakh each.

Balbir Singh Sidhu said the amount given to schools would not only benefit the residents of these villages but also the villages nearby.

He said the results of the government schools had improved and schools had witnessed an increase in the number of students.

He said due to this, Punjab bagged the first rank in the performing grading index declared for all states and union territories across the country. — TNS
