Shopkeepers, traders protest in Zirakpur

Zirakpur, May 3

Shopkeepers and local businessmen today held a protest outside several multinational wholesale stores on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway here for running their operations.

The shopkeepers alleged that their shops were being closed and they were issued challans. However, several wholesale stores were being allowed to run their operations.

The protesters did not maintain social distancing and most of them were not wearing face masks properly.

Thirty persons working in a multinational owned and operated wholesale store in Zirakpur were found Covid positive on April 30.

The issue

The shopkeepers alleged that their shops were being closed and they were issued challans. However, several wholesale stores were being allowed to run their operations.
