Panchkula, July 17

A five-year-old boy was killed after a speeding SUV hit him near Parshuram Bhawan, Sector 12-A, on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak, a resident of Dhakoli in Zirakpur.

Deepak was returning home along with his uncle and counsins when the mishap took place.

Deepak had gone with his cousins Aatma (13) and Ravi (9) to Sector 12-A to hand over lunch to his uncle Vidya Sagar (35), who works as a daily wager.

Vidya Sagar told the police that he was working at a house in Sector 12-A. Deepak, along with other children, came to give him lunch. After having his lunch, he, along with the children, was going towards Dhakoli. When they reached near Parshuram Bhawan, a rashly driven white Duster came from the Amartex roundabout and hit Deepak. After hitting Deepak, the car driver sped away.
