The Department of Laws, Panjab University, in association with the University of Delhi (Faculty of Law) and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, will organise a full-time residential summer school from July 15 to 21. The summer school will offer a distinctive opportunity to students to engage in informative discussions, learn about new concepts and explore contemporary ideas with the help of seminar, technical sessions and group discussions. It shall provide a unique atmosphere to challenge their knowledge and skills, understand concepts from different perspectives and pursue individual enrichment, said the organisers. Students from undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses will be eligible to participate in this event. SFS to start stir on July 11

The Students for Society (SFS), a political outfit of Panjab University students, will start an agitation on July 11 to protest against the university's recent decision of fee hike, merger of six departments and closure of the nuclear medicine department. "Apart from the fee hike, we strongly condemn and oppose the dictatorship of the Vice-Chancellor and his coterie for autocratically merging six departments, shutting the nuclear medicine and snatching chairpersonship from the only professor of the nuclear medicine department," read a statement by the SFS.

Australian delegation visits PU

A delegation from Western Australia, which is on a visit to India for exploring various joint ventures with states and universities, visited the Panjab University campus on Thursday. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof Renu Vig. The PU contingent was represented by Prof Sudhir, Director, Research, Prof Sukhbir Kaur, fellow and reputed scientist, Prof Devinder Singh, Chairman, Department of Laws, Prof Manu Sharma, Director, CIPP, Dr Priyatosh Sharma and Dr Neeraj Kumar. Interaction regarding collaborations, technology exchange, interlinked repository of research data and courses were discussed for the benefit of both Indian and Australian students.

Students take vow against plastic use

The NSS units of the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, celebrated International Plastic Bag-Free Day. All participants took a pledge that they would stop using not only plastic bags but also single-use plastic bottles and similar products.
