A 23-year-old Zomato delivery boy lost his life in a motorcycle accident near the Government PG College for Women in Sector 14 around 2 am this morning when he was on his way to pick an order from a food outlet. The victim has been identified as Sunny, a resident of Kharak Mangoli.

Victim’s brother Ravinder Kumar said he got to know about the incident around 3 am from an acquaintance, who told him that his brother was at the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 after having met with an accident.

The postmortem was conducted at the hospital today. However, the family refused to take Sunny’s body, alleging police inaction.

Ravinder Kumar, who is also delivery boy with Zomato, alleged that the police were not doing enough to investigate the matter.

However, the SHO of the Sector 14 police station, Naveen Saharan, has denied the allegations.

According to the police, they are trying to find out the other vehicle that was involved in the accident. Nobody was present at the spot when the accident occured, the SHO said.

“We will examine the CCTV footage on this stretch to get a clue,” he said. The police have registered a case under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) in this regard.
