8 booked for cheating dera

TARN TARAN: Eight followers of Dera Charan Bagh, Goindwal Sahib, 25 km from here, took away two costly vehicles of the dera and demanded Rs 14 lakh ransom from the administrators for releasing the vehicles.

Eight followers of Dera Charan Bagh, Goindwal Sahib, 25 km from here, took away two costly vehicles of the dera and demanded Rs 14 lakh ransom from the administrators for releasing the vehicles.

ASI Balbir Chand, investigating officer, said the accused had been identified as Gurdip Singh of Barwala (Ludhiana), Sanni, Jassa and Deesee, while four others remained unidentified.

The police said the accused took away one Creta (HR-78B-5821) and a tractor. When they were contacted on mobile phone by Baba Jagtar Singh they demanded Rs 14 lakh ransom to release the vehicles.

The Goindwal Sahib police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 120-B of the IPC against the accused.

The accused are absconding, the police said.
