Athletes of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Government Girls Senior Secondary School, who won medals in the recently organised 30th North Zone National Athletics Championship, were honoured here on Wednesday. The championship was held in Rohtak (Haryana) recently.
Reeta Gill, principal of the school, said players of the Punjab Institute of Sport (PIS) wing participated in different events in the championship.
She said in the recently concluded athletics championship, Novepreet Kaur won silver medal in the long jump while Karandeep Kaur bagged bronze in the 600 m race. Karandeep Kaur and Reena also won silver medal in the relay race and Manpreet Kaur bagged bronze medal in the javelin throw.
Devinder Singh, athletics coach of the school, was also honoured for giving best tips to budding athletes.
GNDU players bag medals
Amritsar: Four players of Guru Nanak Dev University participated in the 4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2018 held in Srinagar. GNDU Sports Director Dr Sukhdev Singh said, “ Avnish Giri bagged a silver medal in the 75 kg category while Gagandeep Singh won a bronze medal in the open weight category and Jasjeet Kaur bagged a bronze medal in the 70 kg category.”
