The police have booked 26 persons, including a commission agent at the local grain market, for allegedly attacking a farmer and his associates.
Cops said the suspects attacked them as the farmer objected to the way of weighting his produce.
The suspects have been identified as commission agent Jatinder Singh, Gurbinder Singh and Yada of Kairon.
However, other suspects are yet to be identified.
The police booked the suspects on a complaint of farmer Pargat Singh, a resident of Jawanda village, whose brother had sold 34 bags of 1121 basmati to the agent.
According to information, the commission agent issued a slip showing that each bags was of 35 kg, but after checking, the weight of the bag was 37.5 kg.
The farmer, along with others, was going to the police station when the suspects allegedly attacked them and took away cash and other belongings.
Thought the incident took place two weeks ago, a case under Sections 323, 379-B, 506, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered on Friday.
