The CIA staff have arrested three persons, including a doctor, on a charge of drug peddling. The police said the accused used to sell intoxicants to drug addicts in an illegal manner.
The accused have been identified as Dr Ashwani Arora, Kushal Mehta and Naveen Arora.
Vavinder Mahajan, in charge of the CIA staff, said Dr Arora used to practise at a private hospital.
The police recovered 13,000 of intoxicating capsules and 2,500 intoxicating tablets from the accused. A case under Sections 22, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them.
The police said the accused were nabbed from near the Godam Mohalla road turn. Addressing mediapersons, police officers on Thursday said Dr Arora and Kushal Mehta were on a bike when they were signaled to stop. However, they tried to escape following which they were arrested by the police after a chase, they added.
During the investigation, they could not produce the bill of the purchased intoxicants. The police said the accused revealed that they got the banned pills from Naveen Arora at a wholesale price.
The accused told the police that bought 100 capsules for Rs 700 and 100 tablets at a price of Rs 600. Later, they sold these in retail at a cost of Rs 1,000 and Rs 800 per 100 capsules and tablets, respectively.
