The Amritsar rural police have booked a man for allegedly duping a resident of Rs4.25 lakh on the pretext of providing his son a job.

The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Daduwal grain market.

Complainant Surjit Singh of Majjupura village had lodged a complaint with the police in March 2017.

Surjit told the police that the accused, who was known to him, promised him a job for his son in the Railways.

The complainant, who is a farmer, said he had given Rs4.25 lakh to the accused for the same.

However, the accused neither did his task nor returned the money.

Thereafter, a probe was marked to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ajnala.
