Man held for snatching purse

The Chabal police arrested a person when he was running after snatching a purse from a woman here on Sunday. However, his accomplice managed to give the police the slip.

The accused have been identified as Harpreet Singh and Gursham Singh, both residents of Muse Khurd village.

According to information, the accused snatched the purse of Kuldeep Kaur when she, along with her husband Bikram Singh of Amritsar, was going to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Beer Baba Budha Sahib, Thatha.

The victim and her husband raised the alarm and with the help of passers-by, they got hold of one of the accused, Harpreet Singh, while his accomplice escaped.

The police reached the spot and took the accused in to custody. A case under Section 379-B of the IPC has been registered against him. — OC
