Scribe ‘manhandled’ at police station

AMRITSAR: High drama was witnessed at the Chheharta police station when cops allegedly took a local journalist into illegal custody and manhandled him.

High drama was witnessed at the Chheharta police station when cops allegedly took a local journalist into illegal custody and manhandled him.

The journalist had gone to the police station to cover a protest being organised by family members of those who were detained by the police in the recent firing incident in the area.

Victim Ranjit Singh Masaun, who works for a web portal, said he had questioned the police about the detained youths.

He added that the cops took him inside and manhandled.

Police officials said the journalist instigated the protesting family members for pelting stones at the police station.

Harish Behal, SHO, Chheharta police station denied the charges.
