AMRITSAR: One-week workshop on massive open online courses (MOOCs), e-content development and open educational resources was inaugurated at UGC-HRD Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday.

One-week workshop on massive open online courses (MOOCs), e-content development and open educational resources was inaugurated at UGC-HRD Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday.

“Teachers of today will have to adapt themselves to the fast-changing requirements of their profession and accept the challenges valiantly being posed by the advancements in the field of information,” said Prof Hardeep Singh, head computer science and dean academic affairs of the university in his inaugural address.

As many as 45 teachers of higher education from a multiplicity of academic disciplines from various nooks and corners of the country are participating in it.

Earlier, Prof Sandeep Sharma, head, computer science engineering and course coordinator, apprised the participants with curriculum of the workshop. Acquainting them with various schemes launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India like ARPIT, LEAP, NRC, SWAYAM, he exhorted them to derive maximum possible advantages of these projects as they have been conceived and designed to uplift the quality of teaching in the country. — TNS
