MUKTSAR: Bhallaiana was declared the best village in the district under the “Mera Pind Meri Shaan” campaign started by the state government.



MUKTSAR: Bhallaiana was declared the best village in the district under the “Mera Pind Meri Shaan” campaign started by the state government. Deputy Speaker-cum-Malout MLA Ajaib Singh Bhatti on Wednesday honoured the winners. The village received a cash award of Rs 2 lakh. Besides, the anganwari centre at Bhullar village, Government Senior Secondary School at Pakki Tibbi village and the Government Primary School at Lohara village were declared best in their categories. Muktsar ADC (D) HS Sra was also present. TNS

Youth sustains bullet injury

Muktsar: Irate over parking a vehicle on the road, a resident of Chhateana village allegedly opened fire on Tuesday night in which a bullet hit a gardener-cum-driver. Sri Chand, father of the injured Shivam Kumar, in his complaint to the police, alleged that his son recently parked a vehicle in a street, which infuriated Amardeep Singh, who opened fire at his son. The police have booked Amardeep, who is yet to be arrested. TNS

Theft at shop in Gidderbaha

Muktsar: Some thieves decamped with goods worth about Rs 30,000 from a shop near Bharu Chowk in Gidderbaha town on Wednesday evening. The police have booked unidentified persons on the complaint filed by Saurav Kumar, who works in a Jaito-based finance company, having temporary office at Bansal Motors at Bharu Chowk in Gidderbaha. As per the FIR, the thieves took away a digital video recorder, two cellphones and some cash lying in a drawer. TNS

Woman injured in dispute

Muktsar: In a dispute between neighbours over encroachment in a street, a woman was injured at Bariwala on Tuesday. An injured Jyoti Kaur has been admitted to the Civil Hospital. The police have booked Boota Singh in this regard. TNS
