BATHINDA: A three-day district-level school athletics meet for boys and girls (U-14, U-17 and U-19) kicked off at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium here on Thursday.

A three-day district-level school athletics meet for boys and girls (U-14, U-17 and U-19) kicked off at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium here on Thursday. District Assistant Sport Officer Gurpreet Singh inaugurated the meet. Around 500 athletes will participate in various events in this competition.

In the U-19 category, Jyoti Bala of MSD School won the first position in long jump (girls). Kiranjot Kaur of Maluka stood second and Geeta Rani of Fateh School Rampura finished third.

In the U-17 category, Ramanpreet Kaur of Mount Litera Zee School emerged victorious in shotput (girls) while Komalpreet Kaur of government school, Akalian Kalan, finished second and Rajwinder Kaur of Sekho won the third position. In long jump, Ritu of Katar Singh Wala won the first position. Jaspreet Kaur of Ballianwali finished second and Sukhpreet Kaur of Jajjal stood third.

Gurpreet Ram of Talwandi Sabo won the 800m race (boys). Gagandeep Singh of Balluana stood second and Sukhpreet Singh of Giana bagged the third position. In the girls’ category, Anki of Harraipur won the race while Gurpreet Kaur of Bhai Rupa finished second and Gurpreet Kaur of Gehri Devi Nagar got the third position.

In the shot put (boys), Dharmander of Talwandi Sabo won the first position, Gurfateh Singh of Kararwala second and Arshdeep Singh third position. In long jump (boys), Hardaseep Singh of Talwandi Sabo came first, Nirbhay Singh of Teona Pujaria second and Shaganpreet Singh won the third position.

In the U-14 category, Jaskaran Singhof Pakka Kalan won the 600m race (boys), Sandeeppal Singh bagged the second position and Lovepreet Singh of Sanjay Nagar remained at the third position. In the girls’ category, Arshdeep Kaur of Mehma Sarja secured the first position, Kirana of Gillpati second and Jyoti Kaur of Bhaini Chuhar came third.

In the U-19 category, Mehakdeep Singh of Bhairupa won the first position in long jump (boys), Harjit Singh of Bangi Raghu second and Inderaj Kumar of Bathinda the third position.

In shotput (boys), Dipasu Arora of Behman came first, Gurkirat Singh of Bhokhra second and Gurkirat Singh of Bucho third. In the girls’ category, Navdeep Kaur of Rampura won the first, Jaspal Kaur of Kalyan Sukha second and Jashanpreet Kaur of Bathinda won the third position.

In the 800 m race (boys), Mehakdeep Singh of Bhairupa won the first, Depanshu Garg of Bathinda second and Gurjeet Singh of Nandgarh third position. In the girls’ category, Ishu of Ballianwali won first, Amandeep Kaur of Maluka second and Amandeep Kaur of Talwandi Sabo won the third position.
