Bathinda, December 4

A drug addict was found lying unconscious on the road near the District Court Complex here today. Members of a city-based NGO got him admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

The members said they saw the man falling unconscious after he had a fall from a canter near the court road.

They said: “When we went near him, he was unconscious and a syringe was dangling from his arm. We immediately called up an ambulance and took the addict to the Civil Hospital for treatment.”

As per a doctor at the hospital, the addict was around 25 years old and brought to the hospital in a semi-conscious stage. Later, he fled from the hospital.

Arun Bansal, a psychiatrist at Civil Hospital, said: “The man had injected himself with heroin (chitta) and fell semi-conscious due to its overdose. When he regained his senses after getting treatment, he absconded from the hospital without informing anyone.”— TNS
